A little hard to see but you’ll get the idea of this demo. It’s a how-to on the “no shooting” bees trick for the arcade game Galaga. This trick works on the full-size arcade game and all versions of MAME. Originally tried this trick at Just Games Inc. in 1982. We have not see to many of these original arcade demos and tricks so we’ll post more when we can. I also hope to improve my video filming skills. Thanks for the kind comments. HAPPY GAMING!
Try using MAME with the video capture feature for this type of stuff. they use the original arcade programming so it should work the same….Galaga does and this trick works on all versions of it.
Me
awesome glitch thanks for posting 5/5
I remember playing this game at the arcade and people would talk about this trick but I would never do it…I guess it was true!!! Thanks!!!
i know how to play for free (maybe for like 5 secs lol) if the “game over” screen and 0 credits is shown, wait till the ship get sucked up from the alien, then once there is 2 ships at once you might be able to control the ship (and sometimes fire)
If you leave the two leftmost bees (rows 1 and 2) in level 1 and let the two of them circle and fire, it usually only takes about 8-12 minutes for them to stop firing. (This even works on the PS2 version, and probably others as well).
THAT is correct dittohead! Do a search for “davesretrocade”. He only has up one video so far but it is an awesome demonstration of the no firing trick!
Lol.where do Kids like dxdydz come up with these FALSE rumors..sad,lmao.
I hate those damn bees…and those Christmas tree ornament things that swirl….
i actually have this machine (table top version) which i have owned since 1984. works perfect. i tried this trick 15 years ago and went right to the end of levels. cannot remember how now. I do know I spent most of the day doing it …happy carefree goggle eyed days. great game a true 80s classic and pioneer of current shootem ups
It’s not a false rumor that if you do like he shows in the video that the bees won’t fire for the rest of the game..its totally true. I did it on a galaga at my local skating rink when i was a teen way back in the 80s. THis trick probably won’t work on updated machines like the speed up version of Galaga or the version on the Galaga/ms pac man combo machine..i’ve never tried tho, so i don’t know.

No this trick works, but it doesn’t have to be the two left bees. It can be the two lower right. You have to let it pass you 100 times, then it will stop firing on you. This is the pussy way to play though.
i thought all enemies stop firing, and is it worth it, it just gives a fake score
You can do the same trick on level 1. I usually leave the bottom left hand bee and after about 14 minutes it stops firing. Kill it after it’s 3rd pass of it not firing at you for the same results.
I could never get this to work on the NAMCO version, perhaps they fixed the bug. The others work fine.
it works
And here I was sooooo proud of myself when I scored 123,000 points (level 17) doing it the hard way. (((sigh)))
Nice. I’m waiting to see more of these old classics tricks.
Heh I’m going to my local arcade to do this today.
This is not a false rumor. I did it in the 80’s as a kid. I have also done it recently at a stand-up galaga at a locall pizza place. Tonight I have verified it works on the Galaga in “Namco Musuem” for Xbox as well.
This trick does work. I did it as a kid in the 80’s and I have done it recently on a standup Galaga/Ms. Pacman game at a local pizza place. Tonight I tested it, and it did work on game in “Namco Museum” for Xbox.
You don’t have to let it pass 100 times. I think it has more to do with time. It took about 9 minutes for it to work for me today. I enjoy playing both ways. Its not that much harder when they shoot, and many people, including myself, can turn over the score with, or without, the trick.
hm… you have to wait 18 minutes??? a line would gather by then lol
i know this trick i use it when i was a kid it work very will i use all time when i ever play the game. good times.
